FAQ’s

What should I wear?
The main difference between our church services is the style of worship, not what you wear. You may see people dressed in a variety of comfort levels in our worship service.  Feel free to come casual. Feel free to come dressed up. Come as you are and join us for worship!

What worship service should I attend?
We suggest you may choose a time preference that works best for your Sunday morning. Each of our worship services are very similar in elements of worship, with the type of music being the largest difference between the two services. Our 9 am service includes more traditional hymns led by a choir, while our 11 am service features a praise team that sings a more contemporary style of music.

Worship is offered each week both in-person and online.

How long are services?
Each of our weekly Sunday services last about an hour.

Where do my children go during worship service?
All children are welcome in worship. If parents would prefer, infants-3 year olds may enjoy spending time with our loving nursery staff during worship services. The nursery opens on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. and closes about 15 minutes after the 11 a.m. service ends. When you arrive at Florence Methodist, please stop by the Connection Center and one of our volunteers will direct you to the nursery location.

During the Traditional Worship Service, which begins at 9 am, children 3 years-5th grade are invited to come up to the altar during the “Children’s Moment” time in our worship service and then may go downstairs to worship together in Kid’s Music.  Children are also welcome to return to their seats after “Children’s Moment” and worship with their family in the Sanctuary.

During the Contemporary Worship Service, which begins at 11 am, children 3 years-5th grade are invited to come up to the altar during the “Children’s Moment” time in our worship service and then may go downstairs to worship together in Children’s Church.  Children are also welcome to return to their seats after “Children’s Moment” and worship with their family in the Sanctuary.

Will I be asked to give money?
If you are a guest, please do not feel any obligation to give. We believe giving is an act of worship wherein those who have a personal relationship with God through Christ, give regularly and generously in response to God’s gracious gifts.

May I receive communion?
Yes! The Sacrament of Holy Communion is open to everyone in the Methodist Church. You do not have to be a member of the Methodist Church or Florence Methodist to receive communion when it is offered on the first Sunday of each month. All are invited to participate.

Gluten free elements are available.
