Sunday Worship for Children

As the Psalmist wrote, Children are a gift from the Lord…” (Psalm 127:3). At Florence Methodist, we embrace this notion and strive daily to provide entertaining and stimulating opportunities to help children develop strong and personal relationships with God.

What We Believe

Florence Methodist believes that children belong in worship. By welcoming kids at our church’s most sacred moments, children learn that nothing can separate them from the love of God. By worshiping together with our children, families can pass on traditions for praising God through the sacraments, music, sharing the good news, and offering gifts and prayers.

Children’s Worship Kits
To help families navigate worship time, we have Children’s Worship Kits available for children to use during services available as you enter the Sanctuary, near the Usher Stand. Kids can take these kits and color and do activities while participating in worship with their parents. If they would like to return completed coloring pages with the Worship Kit when they are finished, they will be mailed out to members of our congregation to brighten someone’s day!

Children’s Church Even though children are always welcome in worship, FMC recognizes the need for age-appropriate learning. As a result, Children’s Church occurs during the 11 am worship services right after the children’s moment, downstairs in the Children’s Church Chapel. Children 4 years old through 3rd grade are welcome to attend this worship which helps them to worship in ways that children experience their world: art, singing, games, and laughing. On Communion Sundays, which is typically the first Sunday of each month, there is no Children’s Church so that kids can experience communion with their families.

Sunday School
Each Sunday, children who are three year old preschoolers through 5th grade are invited to meet from 10:10 – 10:50 am in age-appopriate Sunday School classrooms. Our Sunday School curriculum is designed for a variety of learning styles to help children experience the Bible in ways they can understand. Upon arrival at Florence MC, you should check in at the Connection Center and will be directed to the appropriate Sunday School classroom.

Toddlers (18 months to 2 yrs) meet in the Nursery, for a special Sunday School during this time. Activities include a Bible Story, an active game, a snack, arts and crafts, and songs of praise.

Nursery
At FMC, we believe that children learn about God from birth, and we teach this through music, stories, and the love of caring workers.  All our staff have undergone background screening and are trained and experienced in the care of very young children, including CPR and first aid certification.

“Nursery is available during both 9 and 11 am services as well as for the Sunday School hour for babies and toddlers.
