Operation Christmas Child
It is that time of the year again! Time for me to prepare for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child which is more than just sending a shoebox full of gifts to children all over the world. To quote Samaritan’s Purse, “The amazing journey of a Shoebox Gift begins with you and results in Evangelism, Discipleship, and Multiplication”.
We want to exceed 200 boxes this year and 50 online boxes!

When we pack shoeboxes full of toys, school supplies and hygiene items, they travel to more than 100 countries. There, National Leadership Teams train pastors and community leaders who want to share the message of the Gospel and bless children. The leaders learn how to host child-friendly outreach events, and how to implement The Greatest Journey follow-up discipleship program. Many of these events take place in areas who are not familiar with the Word of Christ. Therefore, they are invited to learn about Jesus and follow him. They also offer The Greatest Gift, a Gospel story booklet Samaritan’s Purse developed for shoebox recipients, and invite children to participate in The Greatest Journey discipleship program. Those youngsters who commit and complete the 12 week course of The Greatest Journey attend a graduation, complete with cap and gown. They invite others to their graduations where the Gospel is shared, and often bring parents, siblings and friends to accept Christ. They become active members in the local church. Families are reached, churches grow, new churches are started, and communities are transformed.
